Design & Philosophy
The Ariete Chair by Unopiù is a subtle homage to classic wrought iron craftsmanship – reinterpreted for contemporary outdoor spaces. Designed by Adam D. Tihany, its design concept is based on the clear geometry of the circle. This motif runs through the entire Ariete series and gives the chair its characteristic, graphic structure.
The lines appear both ornamental and constructive. Curved iron struts form the backrest and side elements in a way that suggests lightness without losing stability. With an overall height of 89 cm and a seat height of 47 cm, a balanced proportion is created, designed for long evenings at the dining table as well as for relaxed moments on the terrace.
In its bronze color, the Ariete Chair develops a calm, architectural presence. The tone is warm but understated – it naturally integrates into various environments, from Mediterranean-inspired gardens to clearly structured city terraces. The design is not intended as a fashion statement, but as an enduring philosophy.
Material & Craftsmanship
Made from hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated iron, the Ariete Chair is consistently designed for durability in outdoor areas. The hot-dip galvanization forms the constructive core and reliably protects the material from corrosion. This preserves the substance even in changing weather conditions.
The bronze powder coating gives the surface a matte, even texture. The iron appears tangible and material, without seeming rough. Light is softly reflected, making the curved structure stand out plastically. Especially in combination with natural stone, wood, or textile outdoor cushions, an exciting dialogue between hardness and softness emerges.
The artisanal precision is evident in clean welds and clearly defined transitions. Despite its delicate appearance, the chair has a stable construction. Optionally, a removable seat cushion made of 100% acrylic fabric adds to the comfort. The material is designed for outdoor use, colorfast, and easy to care for – a functional addition to the clear metal structure.
Spatial Effect & Applications
With a width of 55 cm and a depth of 60 cm, the Ariete Chair harmoniously fits into various table settings. It is suitable for compact dining areas on city balconies as well as for generous tables in the garden. Its slightly curved backrest supports an upright, comfortable sitting posture.
In a private context, the chair creates an elegant backdrop for summer dinners or informal gatherings. In the commercial sector – for example, in boutique hotels, courtyards, or upscale gastronomy concepts – it conveys a combination of classic design language and contemporary reduction.
- as an outdoor dining chair for terrace and garden
- for balconies with architectural aspirations
- in the commercial sector for stylish hospitality concepts
- combinable with other elements of the Ariete Collection
Within the collection, a formally cohesive ensemble is created in interaction with tables and lounge elements. The graphic iron structure runs through all models, enabling a consistent design of the outdoor space.
