Design & Posture
The Ariete armchair by Unopiù translates classic wrought iron tradition into a contemporary design language. Designed by Adam D. Tihany, the model follows the clear design idea of the Ariete series: the circle as a constructive motif, not as decoration. Lines become structure, ornament becomes architecture.
The curved iron struts form the backrest and armrests in a calm, rhythmic movement, creating a chair that is both graphic and corporeal. The silhouette is open, almost transparent, yet present. Especially from above, the precision of the lines is evident, lending the furniture a subtle elegance.
With its proportions of 55 × 60 × 89 cm and a seat height of 47 cm, the armchair is clearly designed for comfortable seating. The armrests seamlessly integrate into the overall construction and give the chair an architectural framework. In the Bronze finish, the iron develops a subdued warmth that harmoniously integrates into a wide variety of outdoor spaces – from Mediterranean-inspired gardens to minimalist city terraces.
Material & Craftsmanship
Made from hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated iron, the Ariete armchair is consistently designed for long-term outdoor use. The hot-dip galvanization forms a durable base against corrosion and makes the furniture impervious to moisture, temperature fluctuations, and seasonal stresses.
The powder coating in Bronze provides a uniform, matte surface with a fine tactile quality. The material's substance remains palpable, yet it doesn't appear raw. Instead, a controlled texture is created that softly absorbs light and gives the chair depth. In combination with natural stone, wooden decks, or mineral plasters, a harmonious material dialogue emerges.
The craftsmanship is evident in precise weld seams and clear transitions. Despite its delicate appearance, the armchair possesses high stability. The construction is well thought out, the lines are exact, the proportions are balanced. Unopiù combines Italian design with technical diligence here – a standard that can be seen in every detail.
Optionally, the chair can be equipped with a precisely fitting seat cushion. The light acrylic fabric creates a deliberate contrast to the dark bronze tone and simultaneously increases seating comfort. This allows the appearance to be varied depending on the context – purist without a cushion or softer and more inviting with a textile accent.
Spatial Effect & Applications
The Ariete armchair structures outdoor spaces with ease. Its open construction doesn't appear massive but allows air and light to pass through, making it suitable for both smaller balconies and spacious terrace areas.
- as an elegant dining chair in the garden
- for terraces with classic or modern architecture
- in the courtyard of boutique hotels or restaurants
- as a solitaire next to a side table or a bench
- combinable with other elements of the Ariete collection
In combination with a round table, the armchair unfolds its communicative quality. The curved lines pick up the circular shape and create a cohesive ensemble. Within the Ariete series, a consistent outdoor space concept can be developed – from individual seating to a complete lounge or dining situation.
Even in the contract sector, the model impresses with its formal restraint. It appears representative without being obtrusive. Especially in hospitality projects, where material durability and aesthetic continuity are equally important, the chair offers a long-term solution.
