The Ariete Armchair by Unopiù translates classical wrought iron tradition into a contemporary design language. Designed by Adam D. Tihany, the model follows the clear design concept of the Ariete series: the circle as a constructive motif, not as decoration. Lines become structure, ornament becomes architecture.

The curved iron struts form the backrest and armrests in a calm, rhythmic movement. This creates a chair that appears both graphic and physical. The silhouette is open, almost transparent, yet present. Especially in the top view, the precision of the lines, which gives the furniture a subtle elegance, is evident.
With its proportions of 55 × 60 × 89 cm and a seat height of 47 cm, the armchair is clearly designed for comfortable seating. The armrests blend naturally into the overall construction and give the chair an architectural framework. In the bronze finish, the iron develops a subdued warmth that harmonizes with a wide variety of outdoor spaces – from Mediterranean gardens to minimalist city terraces.
Material & Workmanship
Made of hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated iron, the Ariete armchair is consistently designed for permanent outdoor use. The hot-dip galvanizing forms a resistant base against corrosion and makes the furniture impervious to moisture, temperature fluctuations, and seasonal stresses.
The bronze powder coating ensures a uniform, matte surface with a fine feel. The material remains palpable in its substance, yet does not appear raw. Rather, a controlled texture is created that softly absorbs light and gives the chair depth. In combination with natural stone, wooden decks, or mineral plasters, a harmonious material dialogue arises.
The craftsmanship is evident in precise welds and clear transitions. Despite its delicate appearance, the armchair possesses high stability. The construction is well thought out, the lines exact, the proportions balanced. Unopiù combines Italian design with technical meticulousness here – a claim that can be read in every detail.
Optionally, the chair can be equipped with a custom-fit seat cushion. The light acrylic fabric creates a deliberate contrast to the dark bronze tone and at the same time increases seating comfort. This allows the appearance to be varied depending on the context – purist without a cushion or softer and more homely with a textile accent.
