Design & Attitude
The Ariete armchair by Unopiù embodies a design language that combines classic wrought iron tradition with contemporary clarity. Designed by Adam D. Tihany, the design is based on a minimalist, graphic linearity that interprets the circle as a constructive motif. The structure appears finely drawn yet supportive – a piece of furniture that suggests lightness without losing substance.
The version with a dark iron structure and light upholstered seat and back cushions creates a balanced contrast. The frame defines the architectural structure, while the light upholstery introduces softness and domestic depth. Especially outdoors, this dialogue between metal and textile unfolds a quiet tension that feels natural on spacious terraces as well as in smaller gardens.
The Ariete armchair is not a loud statement, but a deliberately placed element. Its proportion is inviting without appearing oversized. It integrates into existing ensembles while simultaneously creating an independent attitude – restrained, yet precisely formulated.
Material & Craftsmanship
The frame is made of hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated iron and is consistently designed for permanent outdoor use. The hot-dip galvanization reliably protects the material from corrosion and forms the technical basis for durability. The powder coating ensures a uniform, matte surface that does not conceal the metal but emphasizes its materiality.
The lines of the iron structure are carefully crafted. Precise weld joints, clean transitions, and a stable construction ensure stability and resilience. Despite its delicate appearance, the armchair conveys structural security – a quality that proves itself in daily use.
The light outdoor upholstery brings a soft, textile component into play. The cover is suitable for outdoor use and chosen to reflect light and brighten the overall effect. In combination with the darker metal structure, a clear, calm color composition is created. The cushions are dimensionally stable, comfortably sized, and support a comfortable sitting posture – both for short conversations and longer stays outdoors.
The combination of durable iron and high-quality outdoor textile makes the Ariete armchair a piece of furniture that unites design clarity with functional durability. Material selection and craftsmanship are not conceived as decorative, but as constructive and long-term.
Spatial Effect & Applications
The Ariete armchair structures outdoor spaces with a restrained presence. Placed as a single piece, it acts as a deliberately positioned accent. In combination with other elements of the Ariete collection, a cohesive ensemble is created, formally held together by the graphic iron structure.
In the private sector, the armchair is suitable for:
- Lounge areas on terraces or patios
- covered loggias with a home-like character
- Garden areas with a clear architectural line
- Rooftop terraces with minimalist furnishings
The armchair also unfolds its effect in commercial areas – for example, in boutique hotels, quiet courtyards, or exclusive spa areas. The light upholstery gives the setting a light, inviting atmosphere, while the iron structure provides visual clarity. Due to its balanced proportion, the model can be flexibly combined without overcrowding the space.
In conjunction with natural stone, wooden decks, or mineral surfaces, a harmonious material dialogue is created. The dark metal forms a calm frame, the light upholstery provides a subtle contrast. Thus, the armchair becomes part of an overarching design – not isolated, but integrated into an overall concept.
Consultation & Planning
In our showroom in Rostock, we present the Ariete armchair in the context of selected outdoor ensembles. There, the materiality can be experienced in direct comparison – in interaction with other furniture, textiles, and different floor coverings. Especially the effect of the light upholstery in natural light becomes particularly clear in the room.
Furthermore, we advise private builders as well as architects and project developers digitally and project-specifically. Upon request, we integrate the armchair into a comprehensive outdoor space concept. In conjunction with our expertise in landscape architecture, we develop solutions that understand furnishings, vegetation, and structural design as a unit.
The Unopiù Ariete armchair thus stands for a design philosophy that focuses on permanence. Its construction is durable, its form timeless, its materiality well thought out. It is not a short-term trend, but a piece of furniture that naturally remains part of the outdoor space for years to come.
