Since 1992, Domani has been creating high-quality planters and objects from Belgium – designed in Antwerp, manufactured in their own workshop in Hungary. From architectural terracotta to glazed design pieces and titanium zinc water features, Domani combines traditional firing techniques with timeless design.
Materials and Techniques
-
Kaolin Terracotta: Domani's kaolin-based clay fuses so densely during firing that it absorbs only 3–4% water – making it frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use all year round.
-
Raku Technique: a traditional Japanese firing technique. The glaze forms fine crackle-like cracks, unglazed areas blacken – each piece becomes unique. Such glazed design vessels are intended for indoor or weather-protected areas.
-
Titanium Zinc: for water features and bowls, Domani uses soldered titanium zinc plates – particularly durable, developing a natural gray patina over time.
Frost-Resistant or Indoor – the Right Choice
Important for selection: The dense kaolin terracotta (e.g., Atlantis Natural, Graz, Texel, Bergen) is frost-resistant and can remain outdoors all year round. Glazed or metallic-finished series (e.g., the ribbed Atlantis look, Batur metallic) are decorative pieces for indoor or weather-protected areas and should be stored frost-free during winter. The exact information is provided in each product description.
Care
Clean terracotta vessels with clear water and a soft brush; ensure good drainage for permanent outdoor use. Zinc surfaces develop a desired patina – simple wiping is sufficient.
