The Domani Nagori is a terracotta planter from the Nagori collection, designed by Studio KO. Each piece is handcrafted in Domani's workshop in Pécs, Hungary.

Nagori puts the earth at the center: a raw, hand-finished surface, as if the vessels were lifted directly from the ground. The shapes rise from rounded bases to flat rims; some models feature an almost smooth collar. Domani uses a kaolin-based terracotta that is fired so densely that, according to the manufacturer, it absorbs only 3 to 4% water – making the planter frost-resistant. How clay behaves outdoors is explained in our material overview.

The name follows the Japanese idea of "nagori", the lingering echo of past seasons. The earthy colors harmonize effortlessly with greenery – on terraces, in courtyards, on roof gardens, and in hotel and commercial areas.

Nagori is available in three heights at Ø 80 cm and five colors – white-beige (ivory), grey (rhino grey), anthracite (slate), ochre-brown (camel), and red (sahara red). All models have a drainage hole. Our page on Domani showcases more vessels from the brand, while the rest of our selection of planters is available from other manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Domani Nagori frost-resistant?

Yes. According to the manufacturer, Domani's densely fired terracotta absorbs only 3 to 4% water; the Domani Nagori is therefore frost-resistant and can remain outdoors year-round. It is important that water does not collect in the vessel during winter; in severe frost, Domani recommends wrapping the vessel and plant in a fleece blanket.

Can the Domani Nagori also be placed indoors?

Yes, the Domani Nagori is also suitable for indoor use. Terracotta is porous and not waterproof; Domani therefore recommends lining the inside of the vessel with pond liner or a watertight insert and placing the plant in a hydroponic system with a water level indicator.

Who designed the Domani Nagori?

The Domani Nagori was designed by Studio KO. The name follows the Japanese idea of "nagori" – the lingering echo of past seasons, which is intended to remain visible in the raw surface of the vessels.
