Sind Teak-Gartenmöbel wetterfest und können sie im Winter draußen bleiben?

Teak (Tectona grandis) enthält natürliche Öle, die das Holz gegen Feuchtigkeit, Fäulnis und Schädlinge schützen. Barlow Tyrie gibt an, dass seine Teakmöbel ganzjährig unabgedeckt draußen stehen können. Wer abdeckt, nimmt eine atmungsaktive Hülle – luftdichte Kunststoffplanen führen zu Staunässe. Polster und Kissen gehören bei Regen und im Winter nach drinnen.

Warum wird Teakholz grau?

Unbehandeltes Teak bildet im Freien durch UV-Licht und Witterung innerhalb einiger Monate eine silbergraue Patina. Das ist ein rein optischer Vorgang: Stabilität und Haltbarkeit bleiben erhalten. Viele Kunden entscheiden sich bewusst für diesen Look.

Sollte man Teak-Gartenmöbel ölen?

Das hängt vom Hersteller ab – bitte folgen Sie der jeweiligen Pflegeanleitung. Barlow Tyrie rät ausdrücklich vom Ölen ab und schließt Schäden durch Teaköl von der Garantie aus. Unopiù bietet ein eigenes Teakholzöl an, Tribù Teak Sealer und Teak Protector, Traditional Teak Cleaner und Brightener. Wer den Goldton halten will, muss die Behandlung regelmäßig wiederholen; ohne Pflege vergraut das Holz wieder.

Wie reinige ich Teak-Gartenmöbel?

Mit Wasser, mildem Reiniger und einer weichen Bürste in Faserrichtung. Hochdruckreiniger und scheuernde Mittel sind ungeeignet, weil sie die Holzfasern aufrauen. Vergrautes Holz lässt sich mit einem Teak-Reiniger auffrischen. Ausführlich erklärt im Ratgeber Teakholz richtig pflegen.

Woher stammt das Teakholz?

Die von uns geführten Hersteller verwenden Plantagenteak. Barlow Tyrie bezieht sein Teak überwiegend aus staatlich kontrolliertem Plantagenanbau in Indonesien, FLEGT-lizenziert und über das indonesische System SVLK abgesichert. Traditional Teak verarbeitet Teak von zertifizierten Partnern aus nachhaltig bewirtschafteten Plantagen.

Welche ausziehbaren Teak-Gartentische gibt es?

Zum Beispiel Barlow Tyrie Arundel (204/286 cm) und Monaco (175/240 cm), Traditional Teak Noah (220/270/320 cm), Unopiù Chelsea (165/225 und 217/297 cm), Unopiù Synthesis (230/300 cm) und Unopiù Cosette (230/299 cm). Alle Modelle zeigt die Übersicht Ausziehbare Tische.

Why teak lasts so long in the garden

Teak (Tectona grandis) is dense and contains natural oils. They protect the wood from within against moisture, rot and pests – without chemical treatment. That is why teak has been considered the classic wood for outdoor furniture for generations, from private gardens to hotel terraces.

Is teak garden furniture weather-resistant and can it stay outside in winter?

Teak (Tectona grandis) contains natural oils that protect the wood against moisture, rot and pests. Barlow Tyrie states that its teak furniture can stand outside uncovered all year round. If you cover it, use a breathable cover – airtight plastic tarpaulins lead to condensation. Cushions and pillows should be brought inside during rain and winter.

Why does teak wood turn grey?

Untreated teak develops a silver-grey patina outdoors within a few months due to UV light and weather. This is purely cosmetic: stability and durability remain intact. Many customers deliberately choose this look.

Should teak garden furniture be oiled?

This depends on the manufacturer – please follow the respective care instructions. Barlow Tyrie expressly advises against oiling and excludes damage caused by teak oil from the warranty. Unopiù offers its own teak wood oil, Tribù Teak Sealer and Teak Protector, Traditional Teak Cleaner and Brightener. Those who want to preserve the golden tone must repeat the treatment regularly; without care, the wood will turn grey again.

How do I clean teak garden furniture?

With water, mild cleaner and a soft brush in the direction of the grain. Pressure washers and abrasive products are unsuitable because they roughen the wood fibres. Greyed wood can be refreshed with a teak cleaner. Find out more in the guide How to properly care for teak wood.

Where does the teak wood come from?

The manufacturers we carry use plantation teak. Barlow Tyrie sources its teak mainly from state-controlled plantation cultivation in Indonesia, FLEGT-licensed and secured through the Indonesian SVLK system. Traditional Teak processes teak from certified partners from sustainably managed plantations.
