The Unopiù Salò dining table 279 cm is a rectangular aluminium garden table from the Salò collection, designed by Matteo Thun and Benedetto Fasciana. A width of 279 cm, depth of 100 cm and height of 75 cm make a long table for eight to ten people: four to five place settings along each long side, plus the ends. The depth of 100 cm keeps the middle free for platters, carafes and candles.

The frame is made of aluminium. At this length, the material is more than a matter of looks: it stays dimensionally stable, does not corrode and carries the slender frame line over almost three metres. After rain, the aluminium should dry in the sun before the table is covered – this avoids trapped moisture. The height of 75 cm corresponds to the usual dining table height, which suits garden chairs with a normal seat height. For the top, aluminium and porcelain stoneware are available, though not in every colour combination. Aluminium is made to match the frame colour and is available in all four frame colours: Terracotta, Graphite Grey, Sage Green and Sand. With porcelain stoneware, the structure determines the top colour: Terracotta is combined with porcelain stoneware Terracotta, Graphite Grey, Sage Green and Sand each with porcelain stoneware Deserto. You should know this pairing before ordering, as it cannot be varied. The versions differ widely in weight: 60 kg with an aluminium top, 110 kg with a porcelain stoneware top, delivered in two packages in each case.

At 110 kg, the table stays where it is put – which makes it the fixed centre of a large terrace, a garden courtyard or a restaurant garden. It is intended for outdoor areas, terrace and garden as well as contract and hospitality use, where long tables are part of the business.
