Tuuci was founded in 1998 by Dougan Clarke in Miami; Clarke came from the outfitting of ocean-going yachts. The headquarters and main manufacturing facility are located in Miami-Hialeah, Florida, while the European branch is in Oisterwijk, Netherlands.

The product range includes umbrellas and shade sculptures with mounting systems, as well as furniture, pergolas and cabanas, planters and textiles. The manufacturer uses marine-grade aluminum and stainless steel for the frames, and Marine MXT and Premier PXT fabrics for the coverings. The umbrellas are tested in the Windshear wind tunnel in Concord, North Carolina, at wind speeds of up to 180 miles per hour, around 290 km/h.
