In this project, Mario Bellini was inspired by a fundamental elementary structure of architecture. His design mimics the portico of classical architecture, in which a series of columns support a portico, in this case a tabletop. The base is a self-contained volume, although it is materially open.
Viewed from a different angle, the perception changes completely as the columns no longer overlap and the space appears empty.
Originally designed exclusively in a classic material such as marble, Kettal uses two other materials for its more modern version.
