Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron with added copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. When the material is exposed to the outside air, it becomes covered with a protective layer of rust over time. This natural rust layer provides protection against further corrosion, leading to a long lifespan for the pedestals.

Notes:

• The products should be unpacked immediately upon receipt to prevent moisture from accumulating between the packaging and the product. This can lead to uneven rust spots.
• The products arrive without a rust layer. The rusting process on Corten steel takes approximately 4-5 months, depending on weather conditions.
• Rust can be removed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating rust inhibitor that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the base and prevents the Corten steel from discoloring.
• During the rusting process, rust water can detach from the product.
• We advise against using Corten steel within a 2 km radius of the coast.
• Clean annually by rinsing off coarse dirt with tap water.
