Unopiù Manta – The Sun Sail up to 565×565 cm

Manta – Sun Sails as Architecture

Sun sails are among the most versatile forms of sun protection. Unlike umbrellas or pergolas, they combine a protective function with a strong aesthetic impact: the stretched fabric defines space, creates perspectives, and fundamentally changes the perception of an outdoor area. The Manta Collection by Unopiù elevates this principle to a premium level.

With the Manta sun sail and the Manta post system, Unopiù offers a completely coordinated system – sail and support structure from a single design concept.

Design and Form Language

Manta is not a sun protection product that hides away. The stretched sail is a visually prominent element that actively shapes garden design. The clean lines of the posts and the geometric sail shape create accents and an outdoor architectural feel. Manta is therefore suitable not only as protection but also as a design tool.

The Products of the Manta Series

The Manta system consists of the Manta sun sail and the matching Manta post. Both elements are coordinated and together form a self-contained sun protection system. All products can be found on the Manta Collection page.

Use in the Garden and on the Terrace

Manta is suitable for large terraces, pool areas, and restaurant premises that seek distinctive sun protection with a strong visual presence. The system is less suitable for narrow, winding areas and unfolds its full effect in open spaces where posts and sails are fully visible.

Manta in the Context of the Unopiù Brand

Manta complements the Unopiù sun protection range as a design alternative to umbrellas and pergolas. While Lipari covers the classic umbrella assortment and Shibuya offers the mobile pergola, Manta occupies the segment of large, freestanding sun sail architecture. All Unopiù collections can be found on the brand page.

Care Instructions – Manta Sun Sail

  1. Clean the sail: Wipe the sail fabric with water and mild soapy water. Do not use aggressive cleaners – they attack the UV protection of the fabric.
  2. Drying: Store the sail completely dry or rolled up – moisture promotes mold growth in the fabric.
  3. Wipe posts: Regularly clean the aluminum posts with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the powder coating.
  4. Check tension: Annually check the sail tension and attachment points. Loose sails can flap in the wind and cause damage.
  5. Wind: In strong winds (storms), roll up or remove the sail. Taut sails can be damaged by extreme wind loads.
  6. Winter storage: Remove the sail, clean, and store dry. The aluminum posts can remain outdoors all year round, a protective cover is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Manta Collection

How much wall clearance does Manta need?
The Manta posts do not require wall clearance, as the sail is stretched freely over the posts. The lateral distance to the object depends on the desired sail position and should be at least 50 cm.

How quickly can Manta be set up and taken down?
The Manta system is designed so that the sail can be quickly opened or closed in changing weather conditions. The exact time required depends on the configuration.

Is Manta suitable as a substitute for a pergola?
Manta and pergola fulfill different functions. The Manta sail offers flexible sun protection and a specific aesthetic, but it is not a complete roof. For permanent weather protection, we recommend a pergola like the Unopiù Solaire or Shibuya.

On what surfaces can Manta posts be anchored?
The posts can be anchored on concrete, stone slabs, or similar solid surfaces. Details on fastening options can be found in the product documentation.
