Unopiù Dafne Canopy – Flat roof made of iron and polycarbonate

Protection as a Design Choice

A canopy begins with a decision on material and form. The Unopiù Dafne Flat Roof Canopy consistently embodies this decision: galvanized, graphite grey powder-coated iron as the supporting structure, textured polycarbonate as the covering, a slight incline of 5–7 cm for reliable water drainage. The result is an iron canopy that doesn't just decorate the house entrance but architecturally defines it.

Developed by Unopiù – the Italian outdoor specialist, founded in 1981 in Soriano nel Cimino, Lazio – the Dafne collection stands for a design approach that prioritizes function and proportion over ornamentation. For over four decades, Unopiù has been manufacturing high-quality outdoor furniture and canopies for demanding private and hotel projects across Europe. High-quality weather protection from Italy, designed for continuous outdoor use.

The Unopiu Dafne canopy is made of galvanized iron and is powder-coated in graphite grey. It reliably protects against rain and snow with a covering of structured polycarbonate.

Material: Iron and Polycarbonate

Galvanized iron with graphite grey powder coating combines structural strength with a subtle, timeless appearance. The powder coating permanently protects against corrosion and weather influences – without maintenance, without re-treatment. The construction is visible and precise: frames, supports, and connection points are part of the aesthetic, not hidden.

The 4 mm thick textured polycarbonate covering is impact-resistant, UV-stable, and translucent. It allows diffuse light to pass through without direct sun exposure – a quality feature that proves itself in everyday life: bright entrance area, no heat build-up, reliable protection from rain and snow. A polycarbonate canopy of this thickness is designed for Central European weather conditions.

With a slight incline of 5 to 7 cm, the Unopiu Dafne canopy ensures that water can drain off and does not collect on the roof.

Two Sizes – One Design Principle

The Dafne flat roof canopy is available in two basic formats. Each size addresses a specific entrance situation – not as a compromise, but as a precise answer to the respective architecture. Both variants share the same material, the same construction logic, and the same graphite grey color scheme.

The canopy is available in several sizes: 217 x 120 x 60 cm and 317 x 120 x 60 cm as well as extensions measuring 201 x 120 x 60 cm and 301 x 120 x 60 cm.
Dafne 317 × 120 cm – the larger format for wide entrance areas and double doors.

Dafne 217 × 120 × 60 cm – approx. 44 kg. The more compact format for single entrance doors and narrower facade sections. The depth of 60 cm provides sufficient protection against driving rain even with side wind.

Dafne 317 × 120 × 60 cm – approx. 59 kg. The larger format for wide entrance areas, double doors or facades with pronounced horizontal emphasis. Same depth, larger protected area – the right choice for representative house entrances.

Extension: Modular Thinking

Both basic formats can optionally be combined with a side extension – a modular principle that increases the protected area without changing the system and adapts the house entrance canopy to changing requirements.

Dafne with extension – modular enlargement of the protected area without system change.

The extension 201 × 120 × 60 cm (approx. 36 kg) complements the 217 cm basic module. The extension 301 × 120 × 60 cm (approx. 51 kg) is matched to the 317 cm format. Both extensions are made of identical material and integrate seamlessly into the overall construction – same powder coating, same polycarbonate thickness, same appearance.

Context: Canopy as Part of Facade Design

Buying a Dafne canopy means more than weather protection: it's a decision for a well-conceived facade. The canopy works above a steel or wooden entrance, next to a house wall with clear forms, in combination with other elements from the Unopiù Dafne range. The graphite grey color and iron construction allow for broad combinability with contemporary as well as classic architecture.

For entrance areas that view weather protection as an integral part of facade design – not as a subsequent addition – the Dafne canopy is a consistent choice. Assembly required; assembly instructions are included. Delivery time: approx. 3–6 weeks from order.

As a complementary product, the Unopiù Dafne / Esdra Canopy is recommended for entrance situations with a pitched roof geometry. An overview of all canopies and shelters as well as the complete Unopiù range are available on the respective pages.
