Todus: Stainless steel garden furniture from the Czech Republic

Todus is a Czech family business from Opava that has been manufacturing stainless steel outdoor furniture for over three decades. The collections are created predominantly in collaboration with the Belgian studio Segers and combine clean, architectural lines with weather-resistant materials. Anyone looking for garden furniture that can remain outdoors for years while retaining its form will find one of the most consistent answers in European outdoor design at Todus.

A Manufactory from Opava

In the north of the Czech Republic, in the city of Opava, the furniture by Todus is manufactured in a family-run facility. The company has over 30 years of craftsmanship tradition and works with carefully selected European raw materials. This origin is no mere detail, but part of the company's ethos: Todus sees itself as a manufactory, not a mass producer. Every piece is designed for permanent outdoor use, from a single chair to an expansive modular lounge.

The design language is largely the work of the Belgian studio Segers, which has designed collections such as Baza, Dongo, Starling, Albus, Branta, Condor, and the Kori series introduced in 2025. This collaboration is complemented by another design voice: designer Lucie Koldová is responsible for the Slide series. The result is a catalog that follows a clear design language while still allowing room for different characters.

Design Language: Serenity Instead of Gesture

Todus furniture is defined by restraint. Slender frames, precise edges, and a horizontal, serene presence shape the image – decorative gestures are deliberately omitted. This language makes the collections equally suitable for modern architecture and established gardens. A dining table from the Branta series, for example, carries its ceramic top on a finely drawn frame, making the volume of the top appear all the more serene. A chair from the Condor series emphasizes proportion and craftsmanship rather than ornament.

Because many series are designed modularly, they do not create individual pieces of furniture, but rather cohesive outdoor spaces. This is especially true for the lounge systems, which can be freely composed from a compact sofa to an expansive corner solution.

This modular principle is more than a configuration game. It allows furniture to be planned exactly to a floor plan: a corner that follows a terrace edge; an island that surrounds a tree; a U-shape that defines a sheltered outdoor space. Because all elements of a series share the same seat height, the same material thickness, and the same color logic, the result never looks assembled, but rather cast as one. Those who start small can add more later – a concept that outdoor furniture rarely carries out so consistently as Todus.

Materials for Permanent Use

The defining material at Todus is powder-coated stainless steel. It is UV-, frost-, and weather-resistant, insensitive to chlorine and seawater, and easy to care for – properties that make stainless steel one of the most reliable materials for terrace furniture. Our material overview explains in detail why this material is so successful outdoors.

The powder coating is more than just paint: it forms a closed, elastic layer around the steel, protects against corrosion, and offers a wide range of matte colors – from light white to warm earth tones and deep anthracite. Because the color is baked in, it hardly fades under UV radiation.

Tables combine the frame with tops made of 12 mm thick ceramic or HPL – both scratch-resistant, lightfast, and insensitive to temperature, so that hot dishes, sunscreen, or an overturned glass of red wine leave no marks. For seating and lounge furniture, Todus uses quick-drying Dryfeel® foam, which allows rainwater to drain away quickly instead of retaining it like conventional foam; the cushions are therefore quickly usable again after a shower. Weatherproof coverings such as Batyline complement this material palette in the airier seating series. An exception is the Leuven collection, which is made of powder-coated aluminum.

Everyday Care

Maintenance remains minimal. As a rule, cleaning with clear water and a mild soap solution is sufficient; abrasive or aggressive cleaners should be avoided to protect the coating. Ceramic and HPL tops can be easily wiped clean, and Dryfeel® cushions dry on their own after rain. A practical tip for locations directly by the sea or pool: for brushed – i.e., uncoated – stainless steel, the manufacturer recommends an additional anti-corrosion treatment, as the salt- or chlorine-containing air continuously attacks it. We are happy to advise on the right finish for your location.

The Collections at a Glance

The Baza collection is the modular centerpiece of the catalog: round lounge chairs, daybeds, a hanging sofa, and poufs that come together to form organic seating islands. Their soft, rounded shapes create an inviting atmosphere on the terrace and in the pool area. The Baza Round lounge chair and the floating Baza Swing hanging sofa are among the most expressive pieces in the series.

The Dongo system approaches lounge modularly: from individual elements, corners, chaise longues, and integrated tables, seating landscapes are created that adapt exactly to the floor plan – from a compact two-seater to an expansive U-shape for the hotel terrace. Clearly drawn cubes and a low design give the lounge a serene, horizontal presence.

The Starling collection is the most versatile series: it includes chairs, armchairs, bar furniture, benches, sofas, and a complete table program with soft, inviting contours. Anyone looking for a cohesive dining and lounge design will find a harmonious system here. Complementing this, the Kori collection introduced in 2025 brings together armchairs, benches, and dining tables in two versions – Classic with side legs and Flex with a more delicate base.

In addition, the delicate Condor and Branta series offer chairs and tables, Albus offers upholstered lounge chairs with mesh covering, Alca offers generous tables, Slide offers expressive seating, and accessories such as the Verdi series planters and the Luci and Otus cordless lights.

In Outdoor Spaces: Terraces, Pools, Hotels

Because the furniture is built for permanent use, it finds its place both in private gardens and in commercial spaces. On a private terrace, a Dongo lounge and a Branta side table create a serene retreat; in the pool area, Baza elements and Starling loungers withstand sun, moisture, and chlorinated water. In the hotel industry, the series are valued for their robustness and the ability to furnish large areas cohesively yet individually. From the breakfast table to the evening lounge, a cohesive picture is created.

Todus also plays to its strengths in garden architecture. The reduced design language subordinates itself to plants, water features, and sightlines instead of competing with them. A Verdi planter made of stainless steel sets a serene vertical accent along a path; the cordless Luci and Otus lights carry the design through after sunset without fixed wiring. Thus, an outdoor space can be conceived in layers – seating, dining, planting, and light – and yet designed with a single, consistent material language.

Classification: Consistent Outdoor Design

Todus occupies a clear position in the European outdoor segment: furniture designed from a single material, planned consistently modularly, and manufactured in a manufactory. This clarity makes the collections long-lasting – both in design and material. Anyone looking for designer garden furniture that follows architecture rather than the season will find a reference in the Todus collections. We are happy to advise on collections, colors, dimensions, and suitable combinations for your outdoor space.

Frequently Asked Questions About Todus

Where does Todus furniture come from?

Todus is a family business from Opava in the Czech Republic and has been manufacturing outdoor furniture from European raw materials there for over 30 years.

Who designs the Todus collections?

Most collections – including Baza, Dongo, Starling, Albus, Kori, Condor, and Branta – are by the Belgian studio Segers. The Slide series was designed by Lucie Koldová.

What materials are Todus furniture made of?

The defining material is powder-coated stainless steel, complemented by 12 mm thick ceramic and HPL for table tops, as well as weather-resistant textiles such as Batyline and Dryfeel® foam. Only the Leuven collection is made of powder-coated aluminum.

Is Todus furniture weather-resistant?

Yes. The materials are designed for permanent outdoor use and are resistant to UV, frost, chlorine, and seawater. Cushions and the electronics of the lights should nevertheless be stored protected; directly by the sea, an additional protective treatment is recommended for brushed stainless steel.

Are the Todus series modularly combinable?

Many series – above all Dongo and Baza – are modularly designed and can be assembled into individual seating landscapes. Within a collection, the elements are designed to complement one another.
