Collection: Barlow Tyrie

Since 1920, Barlow Tyrie has been manufacturing high-quality British garden furniture – from classic teak pieces to modular stainless steel lounge sets. This family business, with locations in England and Indonesia, combines traditional craftsmanship with weatherproof durability, made to last for generations.

Material – The Right Choice

Different materials are used depending on the collection:

  • Grade A Teak (Tectona grandis): warm, oily heartwood, weather- and frost-resistant – for timeless classics like Adirondack, Linear, Apex, or Glenham.
  • 316 Marine Stainless Steel: highly corrosion-resistant and modern – e.g., Equinox, Mercury, Layout.
  • Powder-Coated Aluminum: lightweight and rust-proof – e.g., Around, Aura.
  • Textilene® and Sunbrella®: UV and weather-resistant slings and cushion covers.

Teak Origin & Sustainability

The teak comes from government-controlled Indonesian plantation cultivation and is FLEGT/SVLK licensed – a legally secured, legal supply chain. Barlow Tyrie exclusively processes Grade A teak, the highest quality grade.

Care

Teak naturally turns a silvery gray outdoors – a purely cosmetic process that does not affect its durability. If you wish to preserve the golden tone, oil it once or twice per season. Stainless steel, aluminum, and Textilene are particularly easy to care for. All details can be found in the Teak Wood Care Guide.

Popular Collections

Discover Equinox, Around, and Linear – among others – as well as classic teak ranges for dining, lounging, and relaxation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to oil teak?
No. Teak is weather-resistant even untreated. Oiling is optional and only serves to maintain the golden hue.

Can the furniture stay outdoors in winter?
Yes. Teak, stainless steel, and aluminum are frost and weather-resistant; breathable covers keep them clean.

Is the silvery discoloration a defect?
No, it is the natural patina of untreated teak and does not affect its durability.
